‘What a pleasure it has been spending a day with my mind cast back half a century: Willie’s world seems like a wonderful time filled with simple pleasures and a sense of community which makes me a little sad, as it is non-existent in city life, or perhaps modern life.

I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of reading the manuscript. I found that I could easily understand what was being described and can appreciate the loving care, time and research which you, and others acknowledged, have done to get it to this stage.

It is reasuring to know that Willie’s experiences, which are a vivid reminder of the time, will be documented and available for current and future generations to appreciate. I feel humbled by the experience of reading this and have a yearning for the type of life he led. I love the sea nand fishing, and would have loved to go on a fishing trip with Willie!’
