The tale combines the issues that arise from the merging of different cultures across generations, resulting in a potent clash of emotions from anger and division to hope and optimism. The storyline draws from the author’s experiences as the son of immigrants from India, facing up to racial tensions in his youth and in supporting patients as a GP who had faced similar familial upheavals.
