Description
A sequence of seven poems compiled from the words of Likhubula Children’s Choir, young people who live in the district of Malawi.
The area is dominated by the Mount Mulanje massif, one of the largest granite inselbergs in the world – Malawi’s ‘island in the sky’ left standing over 3000 feet high when the glaciers retreated.
A site of spiritual and cultural importance to the people who live her and depend on its natural resources, it is home to many endemic species, some now critically endangered. The mountain was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the third in Malawi, in 2025.
The poems here celebrate the mountain and the life it supports. They express concern – and hope – for the future of all who live in its changing environment.
Each sale of this publication will help to support the orphaned children of Likhubula Children’s Choir to continue their education and to transform their lives through music and the arts.
