Description
Orcadian fiddle and mandolin player Graham Rorie is an award-winning folk musician based in Glagow.
‘I was born and brought up in Grimness on the island of South Ronaldsay in Orkney. I was taught the fiddle from the age of eight by Douglas Montgomery… I was always taught that traditional music was a valuable resource for us all. A resource that could provide a great deal of knowledge and should be treated with respect yet could be used as a platform to innovate and develop a personal style. I always viewed it as a dynamic genre which inspired me to start writing tunes and figure out my own compositional style… I have kept the performance directions on these tunes minimal so you can give them your own voice and style when you take them off the page, I look forward to hearing what you do with them’.
