Description

For the first time in four bloody years, a peaceful winter blanketed Europe. The High Seas fleet steamed from what was Imperial Germany for internment in what would become its final voyage. This internment led to the greatest act of naval suicide in history, the scuttling of a battle fleet of seventy-four warships in Scapa Flow, Scotland.

What remains of these shipwrecks is the subject of The Guns and Armour of Scapa Flow.

History – Photographs – Surveys

“Tom Easop’s beautiful monochrome images from the depth of Scapa Flow are the closest thing to being there as you’ll get. Dreamlike and poetic in quality, they express both the longing we feel to recover history from the hidden depths and the difficulties involved in getting there. Years in the making, these images are testament to American photographer and diver Tom Easop’s obsession with one of Scotland’s most thrilling stories”. Wendy McMurdo.
